Tilly is watching a Sci-Fi show about space commanders trying to kill a Robotic Host Cell that has infected humans and turned them into robots. While she watches, her parents argue about what to do with her degenerate grandfather who has become a burden on their lives.

Process
Sourced vintage patterns from the 1960s, adjusted and adapted patterns to fit my designs. Organized fittings with the actors, took measurements, tailored costumes to fit.
The Pin
I wanted the crew uniforms to include a pin or signet that represented their fleet. I found a mechanical part at a surplus store, took it apart and painted it. The pin was made to look like a virus, symbolic of the enemy they are trying to defeat.
The Robot
The robot is an essential part of this colorful retro yet futuristic world. Inspired by the science fiction films and shows of the 1960’s, the costume has a base of a gaudy metallic bodysuit, covered in a tangle of multi-colored wires. I constructed this costumes from findings in a surplus store, wanting to convey the idea that this particular robot species is inside-out.
